Job summary

The University of Iowa is seeking an Application Developer or Senior Application Developer to join the Finance and Business Information Services team in Iowa City. Responsibilities include designing and developing applications through full project life cycles, evaluating business requirements, and implementing improvements across systems.

Position emphasizes collaboration with internal customers, leadership in project delivery, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent.
• 1-3 years direct work experience in application development at workgroup/department level.
• Proficiency in HTML/CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Material Design).
• Experience with DBMS such as Microsoft SQL and/or Oracle and data integration.
• Strong knowledge of OOP, SOLID, and DDD concepts.
• Experience with project management, business analysis, and technical communication.
• Experience with Git (GitLab) and distributed source control.

Responsibilities

• Analyze work processes and evaluate business requirements and information systems functionality.
• Provide first-level end-user support via phone and email.
• Develop and manage work plans and schedules for projects within Application Development.
• Identify infrastructure needs to support processes.
• Design, develop, test, and deploy applications per requirements.
