Job summary

Chicago Magnesium Casting Co. seeks an experienced NDT professional to lead and control NDT processes in our aluminum and magnesium sand casting foundry. You will troubleshoot quality issues with engineering and customers, and oversee internal NDT certifications.

The role requires ASNT/NAS 410 Level III RT/DR/Film certification and extensive NDT experience, with a preference for aerospace backgrounds. Strong leadership and documentation skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related field.
• Minimum 5 years Aerospace NDT experience or 10 years NDT in other industries; casting experience preferred.
• Must be trained and certified to maintain ASNT/NAS 410 Level III NDT in RT, DR and PT.
• Must pass company general, specific and practical exams for each method.
• Familiar with AS9100 and NADCAP audit requirements for special processes.

Responsibilities

• Answer quality issues referencing Specifications and Blueprints.
• Resolve NDT issues (questionable acceptance/rejection).
• Ensure certifications are correct and up to date.
• Attend MRB meetings as needed.
• Update radiographic and penetrant methods with new technology.
• Revise radiographic techniques and exposure parameters as required.
• Learn equipment and calibration requirements, process controls, etc.
• Train and maintain NDT personnel certifications internally.
• Review film usage for coverage accuracy and approve.
• Write work instructions for Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection when required.
• Check calibration needs and arrange calibrations for FPI and X-ray.
• Participate in process improvement meetings (Inspection improvement, front frame, internal audit).
• Ensure X-ray, FPI, and Welding departments conform to NADCAP and customer requirements.
• Communicate effectively with management and customers about NDT processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
