Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a Numer NC Programmer to develop and write NC programs from engineering drawings for NC machines in Newport News, VA.

You will analyze drawings to define part configurations and machining sequences, selecting cutters and program routines for efficient computation and control. Responsibilities include testing and modifying NC programs for engineering changes, ensuring correct tool selection, speeds, and feeds, and validating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with 9 years exempt experience.
• Apprentice School or NNPS graduates acceptable for Info Tech positions.
• Military paygrade E-5+ or higher can substitute for degree.
• Alternate 2-year degree with 2 years exempt experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Develops and writes NC programs from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Analyzes drawings to define part configuration and machine operations.
• Develops programs for machining parts, tools, or sheet metal on NC tools.
• Tests and modifies existing NC programs for engineering changes.
