Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Senior Navigation Engineer to join the GNC and Avionics team. You will design and implement Kalman-filter based navigation algorithms for INS, model inertial sensors and GPS, and drive integration into the broader avionics architecture.

Leading the development and testing strategy, you will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with hardware, software, and systems teams to ensure accurate, reliable navigation performance across simulation and hardware environments.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Aerospace, Electrical, or related field.
5–10 years in navigation systems analysis, design, and testing.
Expertise designing Kalman filters for INS.
Strong knowledge of inertial sensors and GPS.
Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink.
C++ or Python for algorithm development.
Proven leadership and mentoring ability.
U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement advanced navigation and estimation algorithms, focusing on Kalman filters for INS.
Model inertial sensors and GPS receivers to analyze navigation performance.
Lead integration of navigation components into GNC/avionics architecture.
Develop and execute test plans for simulation and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
Analyze sensor data to calibrate IMUs and other navigation sensors.
Troubleshoot navigation issues found during testing and operations.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.
