Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as the Technical Point of Contact supporting the NSWC Dahlgren Division, overseeing a subsystem within the AN/SQQ-89 Undersea Warfare System. This on-site role is based in Manassas, Virginia at Lockheed Martin facilities.

Qualifications

• BS/technical degree or 4 years related experience in SOW domain.
• Six years engineering experience with maritime weapons control or C2 system program.
• Experience with design, planning, analysis, testing, or documentation throughout the engineering life cycle.
• Four years concurrent experience with Navy surface ship Undersea Warfare systems.
• Three years experience developing ECP/ICR/IDS and related system design documents.
• Experience with weapon and combat system certification processes and self-certification criteria.

Responsibilities

• Provide meeting support, review requirements and documentation, and oversee USW Weapons Control system architecture.
• Collaborate with Navy Warfare Centers, TDAs, and system integrator software developers.
• Manage the integrator product backlog and refine performance specs.
• Coordinate with test teams to review test event results.
• Maintain traceability from Navy capabilities to subsystem requirements using dynamic databases.
• Evaluate CPs impact on the subsystem functions and interfaces.
• Participate in JRWG meetings to review P-Specs and ensure interfaces with the SQQ-89 subsystem.
• Review contractor design artifacts (FDDs/IDDs) for architectural compliance and risks.
• Provide government oversight at technical meetings as TPOC for subsystem feature validation.
• Support anomaly investigations, data log reviews, and lab recreation of issues.
• Represent the customer at BAB meetings with Fleet Support and others to prioritize bugs.
• Bridge communication gaps among NSWC, system integrator, TDAs, and Navy Centers.
• Assess high-priority defects and coordinate fleet impact analyses.
• Draft subsystem-specific government correspondence for deviations or non-compliance.
• Evaluate performance and technical risks and prepare leadership briefings.
