Job summary

City and County of San Francisco's Recreation and Park Department seeks a Natural Resources Manager to oversee all aspects of the Natural Resources Division, guiding conservation, restoration, and resiliency efforts across remnant natural areas such as Twin Peaks and Lake Merced.

You will lead a team including specialists and park staff, ensure compliance with state and city environmental laws, and coordinate with agencies and community groups to advance habitat protection and invasive species

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Biological Sciences, Natural Resources Management, Earth Science or related field.
  • Five years of professional experience in the conservation and management of natural ecosystems.
  • Valid California Driver's License.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees conservation and restoration of San Francisco's remnant natural areas to preserve biodiversity.
  • Implements Natural Resources Management Plan for habitat protection and capital projects.
  • Directs staff within the Natural Resources Division.
  • Oversees Integrated Pest Management program per city guidance.
  • Monitors expenditures to align with budget approvals.
  • Ensures safety and compliance with health laws and regulations.
  • Provides policy and technical guidance to Executive Leadership and others.
  • Communicates with City agencies and community groups to achieve conservation goals.
  • Coordinates resource management with departments and regulatory bodies.
  • Drives department vehicle as needed.
  • Serves as department expert on Natural Resource issues.
