Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD seeks an experienced National Security Analyst to lead data-driven analyses across adversary behavior, technology, and policy. You will integrate across technical, operational, intelligence, and policy perspectives to deliver actionable sponsor findings.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in analytically rigorous field such as operations research, statistics, or engineering.
• Doctoral degree in relevant field is a plus and considered in candidate evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to rigorous, data-driven national security analyses across adversary capabilities, technologies, policy, and strategy.
• Serve as an analytic integrator translating complex evidence into clear sponsor findings.
• Develop innovative analytic approaches for complex, ambiguous problems and define measures of effectiveness.
• Incorporate advanced analytic tools including quantitative, qualitative, modeling, and simulation approaches.
• Help build reusable analytic frameworks, datasets, baselines, and workflows for evolving adversary and mission-risk assessments.
• Be an engaged, multidisciplinary team member, taking ownership and coordinating across experts.
• Partner with JHU/APL program managers to shape work and interact with government sponsors.
• Translate analytic results into actionable insights and present to senior decision makers.
• Mentor junior analysts in rigorous analytic methods and problem structuring.
