Job summary

Warner Bros. Discovery’s Avalanche Software in Salt Lake City seeks an Advanced Narrative Designer to craft immersive, player-driven stories set in beloved wizarding worlds.

You’ll collaborate with writers, designers, and IP owners to shape missions, character arcs, and branching narrative experiences that enhance player choices and emotional resonance. The role emphasizes strong storytelling, franchise alignment, and expertise with Unreal Engine 5, Blueprint, and Articy to deliver polished

Qualifications

• Experience in interactive storytelling, narrative design, and game writing; RPG experience preferred.
• Strong writing and narrative-focused design track record.
• Experience with established franchises and authentic tonality.
• Excellent communication; capable of documenting narrative plans.
• Contributed to shipped titles and full dev cycles.
• Familiar with standard game development workflows.
• Deep literacy in games, film, TV, and literature; love of fantasy.
• Knowledge of Wizarding World franchise is a plus.
• Experience with Unreal Engine 5, Blueprint, and Articy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Craft missions and stories that deepen player agency and emotional engagement.
• Collaborate with directors, IP owners, writers, and designers to ensure authentic narratives.
• Champion narrative goals and coherence across story and gameplay.
• Visualize and manage branching narrative structures and player choices.
• Provide feedback to mission designers and artists to maximize storytelling.
• Own large narrative features from design through ship.
• Translate direction into clear mission specs, docs, and implementation plans.
• Work with studio leads to align narrative with project needs and milestones.
• Support design with story beats, character motivations, and narrative delivery.
