Job summary

Pythian, a leader in data and analytics services, seeks a Senior Database Consultant to support diverse clients with database and application infrastructure. You will participate in design, deployment, and operation across cloud and on‑prem environments, focusing on uptime, DR, and performance.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in DBRE/SRE/DBA, strong Python or Go, Django experience, and hands-on AWS, Terraform, Docker, and container orchestration.

Qualifications

7+ years in DBRE/SRE/DBA roles.
Strong Python (or Go) and Django experience.
AWS experience with scalable infrastructure.
Terraform, Bash scripting, Unix/Linux admin.
Docker, GKE, Vault, ProxySQL, GitLab CI/CD.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, analyze, design, implement, and administer database solutions.
Analyze customer infrastructure and recommend best practices for uptime and recoverability.
Manage backups, DR plans, monitoring, troubleshooting.
Oversee clustering, replication, failover, and recovery of databases; plan upgrades.
Support incident management and changes; prepare customer status reports.
Mentor junior team members and contribute to training.
