Job summary

Vultr is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, Databases to join our Platform Engineering team. You’ll oversee database infrastructure (MySQL InnoDB Clusters, PostgreSQL) and work with the Senior Platform Engineer (Databases) to monitor, verify backups, perform DR testing, respond to on-call incidents, ensure replication health, and manage access controls.

You will automate with PHP, Python, or Go and apply SRE practices to power a global cloud platform used by millions of customers.

Qualifications

• Operational database expertise (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
• Experience with database monitoring, backups, DR testing
• On-call incident response and runbooks
• Automation using PHP/Python/Go to instrument systems

Responsibilities

• Own monitoring and alerting for database infrastructure across datacenters
• Execute quarterly backup verification and DR testing
• Serve as first-tier on-call responder for DB incidents
• Maintain replication health across databases
• Manage DB user lifecycle and RBAC across systems
• Carry out encryption-at-rest verification and security remediation
