Job summary

Ayres is seeking a senior municipal water and/or wastewater engineer to lead technical design and project execution for municipal utilities. You will manage projects, ensure schedules and profitability, and mentor staff while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualified candidates will have a PE in WI or MN, 15+ years in municipal utility design and construction, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• PE license in Wisconsin or Minnesota.
• 15+ years of experience in municipal utility design and construction.
• Ability to independently manage small to medium size projects.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver municipal water and/or wastewater projects including design and project management.
• Manage projects, oversee design production, regulatory submittals, and ensure on-time, profitable delivery.
• Build and maintain relationships with design teams, PMs, and leaders.
• Support staff development and mentorship.
• Engage in professional organizations to share knowledge.

Job description

Ayres is seeking a senior municipal water and/or wastewater engineer with a proven track record of technical design and managing and successfully executing various municipal utility projects. The successful candidate will have expertise in utility design, water/wastewater distribution and collection systems, and utility relocation projects, with experience in managing projects and clients, permitting, design, specification and contract preparation, and construction management.

On any given day, you’ll:

• Take the lead in and work collaboratively to deliver projects for municipal governments.
• Responsible for lead in technical design of municipal water and/or wastewater projects including distribution, pumping, storage, treatment, and process engineering
• Manage projects, oversee design and production of plans and specifications and related regulatory submittals, and ensure that the work is produced on schedule, profitably, and in conformance with the quality standards of Ayres and requirements of the contract.
• Build and maintain respectful working relationships with design team, PMs, and other leaders within the company.
• Support and participate in the development and mentorship of staff.
• Actively engage in professional organizations to maintain and/or share technical knowledge.

Required Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• Registered professional engineer (PE) in Wisconsin or Minnesota.
• 15+ years of experience in the field of municipal utility design and construction.
• Ability to independently manage small to medium size projects.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• A valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Desired Skills and Experiences:

• Experience with water and wastewater treatment facilities, especially in smaller communities.
