The City of Delano seeks a senior accounting specialist to perform complex municipal accounting and auditing tasks. You will provide training to department staff and lead accounting and clerical personnel within the City’s Accounting section.

This position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields and offers independent judgment on diverse accounting projects with accountability for ongoing decisions affecting city accounting services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or related field is required.
• Professional accounting work involves complex and specialized duties in municipal accounting procedures.
• Equivalent experience may be considered where allowed by policy.

Responsabilités

• Reviews accounting documents to ensure accuracy of information and calculations; makes correcting entries.
• Inputs all general ledger vouchers.
• Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; creates new accounts or updates descriptions in City chart of accounts.
• Examines supporting documentation to ensure proper authorization and conformance with agreements, contracts, and regulations.
• Keeps subsidiary ledgers for various accounts.
• Prepares and maintains control and subsidiary accounting records for a variety of transactions.
