FM is seeking a Research Scientist in Norwood, MA to lead CFD/FSI-based research for structural risk and loss estimation. The role focuses on developing coupled multiphysics models, validating them with experiments, and applying them to wind, flood, and other environmental loads across industries.

The position is full-time, exempt, based at FM's Science and Technology Office in Norwood, with relocation assistance and a strong emphasis on collaboration, reporting, and technical leadership.

Formación

• Ph.D. required in a relevant engineering field with 3 years of experience preferred.
• MS with at least 5 years of relevant experience considered; 10 years strongly preferred.
• Strong CFD/FSI and multiphysics modeling experience mandatory.

Responsabilidades

• Lead research using CFD, FSI, and multiphysics methods to evaluate fluid loading and structural response.
• Develop high-fidelity CFD/FSI models with appropriate meshing, boundary conditions, and coupling strategies.
• Model wind, tornado, and other loads on structures; integrate with FE and dynamics analyses.
• Calibrate, validate, and quantify uncertainty using experiments or benchmark data.
• Prepare technical reports, publications, and guidance for diverse audiences.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, stakeholders, and academic partners.
