Job summary

Gainesville & Alachua Transportation Planning Organization (GACTPO) is seeking a highly capable transportation planner to provide multidisciplinary planning, coordination, and technical assistance for multimodal projects. You will support major plans such as LRTP, TIP, UPWP, and LOPP while engaging with partner agencies and the public to promote efficient, safe mobility.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in planning, transportation planning, urban or related field, and one year of professional-level planning experience; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Successful completion of all applicable background checks is required.
• Experience with multimodal transportation planning and public engagement is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the development of innovative transportation ideas and strategies for complete streets projects, corridor studies, pedestrian and bicycle safety studies and trails development.
• Collaborates with agency partners, state and federal governments, and the public to create transportation systems prioritizing safe and efficient movement of people and goods.
• Evaluates transportation needs of all users, leads development of planning documents (LRTP, TIP, UPWP, LOPP) with countywide needs in mind.
• Leads special plans and collaborative efforts related to multimodal transportation planning and studies, including Vision Zero and Safe Streets programs.
• Collects, analyzes, and reports transportation system performance data and reports system performance with staff.
• Serves as a liaison to local jurisdictions, supports Gainesville, Alachua County, RTS, FDOT MPO Liaison Office, and UF.
