Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Social Science/Humanities Research Associate III to serve as the lab’s technical lead in the Psychology Department. You will design, build, and maintain multimodal data-collection infrastructure and computational pipelines for audio, video, motion, physiological, and language data.

This is a senior, hands-on role under the PI with a one-year fixed term and a 40-hour workweek at UT Main Campus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, data science, cognitive science, psychology, linguistics, engineering, or related field.
• Programming experience in Python, R, or MATLAB, including building or maintaining data-processing pipelines.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to work independently; excellent written and oral communication.
• Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Technical infrastructure and data pipelines: design, build, configure, and maintain the lab’s multimodal behavior-capture systems; develop data-processing and analysis pipelines for audio, video, motion, physiological, and language channels; apply automated tools including large language models for transcription and feature extraction.
• Data analysis and technical mentoring: lead data quality assurance; write and maintain code and documentation in Python, R, or MATLAB; provide training to undergraduate researchers.
• Operations and data management: maintain shared drives and datasets; assist with equipment procurement and lab coordination.
