Job summary

Cortex Consultants LLC is seeking a skilled medical coder to join our team in the United States. The role focuses on outpatient coding, re-coding, and record abstraction across multiple specialties, with a requirement for 3+ years of hands-on experience.

Candidates must hold an active AHIMA or AAPC credential with ICD-10, be a US citizen, and be able to obtain a DoD security clearance. Proficiency in MS Office 365 and DoD systems is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of medical coding, re-coding and record abstraction experience.
• Outpatient experience across multiple specialties (Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, OB/Gyn, Behavioral Health).
• Active AHIMA or AAPC credential with ICD-10 certification.
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD security clearance (no prior unfavorably removed).

Job description

• Qualifications & Requirements: Experience: 3+ years of medical coding, re-coding, and record abstraction experience.
• Outpatient & Specialty Focus: Proven experience in outpatient settings across multiple specialties, including: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, OB/Gyn, Behavioral Health, and other medical specialties.
• Certifications: Active AHIMA or AAPC credential (e.g., CPC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA, or RHIT) with ICD-10 certification.
• Clearance & Security: US Citizenship. Ability to secure a DOD security clearance, must not have been unfavorably removed from a government position.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Word, Excel, Teams); experience with DoD systems (MHS Genesis, EM360, JLV) is preferred.
