Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an engineer to design and evaluate multi-sensor tracking and data fusion algorithms. You will develop methods for state estimation, data association, track initiation, and maintenance, leveraging Monte Carlo analysis and data-driven evaluation across diverse sensing sources.

You will collaborate across teams, produce analysis packages, and brief sponsors.

Qualifications

  • BS in mathematics, electrical engineering, statistics, or related technical field.
  • 2 years of relevant professional experience applying tracking theory, state estimation, statistical estimation, or related methods.
  • Experience with tracking topics such as data association, multi-target tracking, Kalman or nonlinear filtering, or multi-sensor data fusion.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar programming languages to develop algorithms, build simulations, and analyze data.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret clearance by start date and eventually TS/SCI; US citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and evaluate state estimation, data association, track initiation, maintenance, and multi-sensor data fusion.
  • Use Monte Carlo analysis, test data, and quantitative evaluation to characterize algorithm behavior.
  • Conduct studies to develop tracking system design recommendations.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to provide solutions for complex tracking applications.
  • Develop analysis packages and briefings for sponsors and key audiences.
