Job description

Job Overview

As a senior technical member of the Advanced Engineering and Technology, Standards team, you will support the Radio Access Networks (RAN) and Service and System Aspects (SA) network design from a Standards perspective—focusing on the Core. Your role involves defining and ensuring 5G and Next Gen network Standards meet feature and performance requirements. You will analyze and design SA and RAN architecture layers (physical, signaling, protocol, and above) to optimize networks supporting innovative applications, including ultra-low latency, massive MTC connections, and high throughput to enhance customer experience.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Develop relationships with internal and external parties to influence industry standards and achieve consensus.
  2. Evaluate and contribute to Standards Development Organization (SDO) technical contributions, aligning with T-Mobile’s positions.
  3. Serve as an SDO domain expert and influential delegate, supporting cross-workgroup coordination.
  4. Ensure technical competence and influence to ratify agreements and contributions.
  5. Support the development of a 3+ year technology strategic view on Core/RAN, including Network Slicing, IoT, V2X, AI RAN, MEC, and related areas.
  6. Collaborate with Network Planning, Device Technology, Operations, and other teams to maintain strong working relationships.
  7. Mentor and guide other delegates and SMEs in the Standards process.
  8. Manage complex technical projects independently.
  9. Create ad hoc groups for industry standard meetings and governance.
  10. Assess start-up companies and incumbent solutions proposals technically.
  11. Influence Standards Bodies and Industry Fora to drive ecosystem development from a standards perspective.
  12. Develop Intellectual Property and drive patents into standards.

Education and Work Experience

  • Master’s Degree with five years’ experience or a bachelor’s degree with six or more years of experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25-50%.
  • Leadership experience in 3GPP, GSMA, ATIS, ETSI, and relevant Standards Bodies.
  • Experience with Telecom/IT innovation and IPR/Patent development is beneficial.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

Base Pay Range: $163,600 - $221,400

Corporate Bonus Target: 25%

The pay range is general; actual pay depends on qualifications and experience. Most employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on performance.
