Job summary

Xcelerate Solutions seeks a skilled Microsoft SQL Server Administrator to support the NDOC in Bethesda, MD. You will manage MSSQL/MySQL/PostgreSQL databases, ensure security and reliability, and collaborate in an Agile GovCon environment.

The role requires a TS/SCI clearance (CI Poly preferred), DoD 8140.03 IT System Admin Intermediate cert, and 8+ years of DB experience. Strong scripting and cloud familiarity are a plus.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 8+ years of experience.
• 8+ years hands-on MS SQL Server database administration experience.
• Proficiency with MSSQL, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases.
• Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Experience with backup strategies and shell scripting for database management.
• Knowledge of Agile methodologies and working in Agile environments.
• Must meet DoD 8140.03 IT System Admin Intermediate certification requirements.
• US Citizenship required and TS/SCI with CI Poly or willingness to obtain Poly.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL) for performance and availability.
• Perform lifecycle activities including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and monitoring.
• Implement disaster recovery strategies and database maintenance to optimize performance.
• Monitor database health using tools like SQL Server Management Studio; track CPU, memory, and disk usage.
• Enhance configurations to optimize performance and reduce costs.
• Manage access controls, audit logs, and user accounts to uphold security and integrity.
• Produce documentation, SOPs, reports, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Troubleshoot database issues in a high-security environment.
• Build and maintain relationships with government customers and cross-functional teams.
