Job summary

The University of Akron is seeking a Master Mover who coordinates receiving and delivering heavy materials, moves office furnishings, and leads a team across campus. The role requires operating forklifts and various trucks and may include assisting with special campus requests and events.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of experience, a high school diploma or GED, and an Ohio driver’s license (CDL may be required). The position offers union benefits and a consistent daytime schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or GED.
• Valid Ohio Driver’s License; CDL may be required.
• Minimum 2 years experience receiving/delivering heavy materials and moving office furnishings.
• Ability to operate equipment such as forklift, box truck with liftgate, dump truck, pickup truck and van.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate process for receiving and delivering heavy materials and supplies across campus.
• Lead worker and train others in proper work methods.
• Read blueprints and building plans to determine work aids and sequencing.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and complete related paperwork.
• Pick up and deliver surplus property and assist with special campus requests.
• Maintain recycling program and assist with campus moves and events.
