Marotta Controls, Inc. in Chaska, MN seeks a Senior Staff Motor Design Engineer to design and optimize electric motors for aerospace and defense, covering magnetics, materials, GD&T, assembly, manufacturability, analysis, testing and verification.

This role interfaces with customers, suppliers and internal teams to deliver robust solutions. The position requires expertise in electromagnetic analysis (FEM), materials selection, cost optimization and collaboration with actuation/test engineering.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering degree required (Electrical or Mechanical).
• 5–10 years of experience in electro-magnetic motors, windings and systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional interfacing.
• Proficiency with MS Office and applicable systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, assemble and test electromagnetic motor topologies for high-performance aerospace/defense motors.
• Develop breakthrough motor technologies and optimize cost, performance and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with actuation/test engineering to drive winning programs.
• Review prints/specs and audit supplier processes to mitigate risk.
