Job summary

Waymo LLC is seeking a seasoned Systems Test Engineering leader to direct verification across motion control, actuation, and safety functions for its autonomous driving platforms.

You will set test strategy, drive automation, and manage campaigns from platform bring-up to qualification, while mentoring engineers and ensuring rigorous, transparent reporting for safe operation on public roads.

Qualifications

• 8+ years testing, integrating, or developing vehicle motion control and actuation systems.
• Experience leading a technical team; planning, prioritization, and developing engineers.
• Hands-on test planning, in-vehicle testing, bench/HIL testing, and data analysis.
• Strong systems engineering knowledge and safety-critical sign-off.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a Systems Test Engineers team overseeing verification of motion control and safety functions across Waymo vehicle platforms.
• Set technical direction for test methods, bench and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) infrastructure, automation, and coverage strategy.
• Deliver test campaigns for platform bring-up and qualification milestones; de-risk plans early and communicate status clearly.
• Cross-functional alignment with Motion Control Systems Engineering, Controls and Embedded Software, Hardware Engineering, Structured Testing, and OEM/supplier teams.
• Uphold test rigor with clear pass/fail criteria, high-quality reports, and root cause analysis.
• Develop people: mentor engineers, provide regular feedback, and foster a collaborative team culture.
