Job Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) is seeking a dynamic Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) Engineer to join our growing Engineering Services Group. This role is part of our Infrastructure Design Department, which encompasses disciplines such as structural, geotechnical, MOT, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, traffic, and materials. We focus on design-build delivery of infrastructure projects, emphasizing technical expertise and innovative solutions.

Location

This position is based in our Westlake, TX office.

Responsibilities

1. Coordinate with project teams to understand design limits and constraints.
2. Develop and lead MOT design production for pursuit and final design projects.
3. Review project scope and contracts to ensure MOT plans meet requirements.
4. Mentor junior staff in technical and professional development.
5. Collaborate with estimating and scheduling teams to develop and optimize construction phasing.
6. Focus on innovation by developing multiple phasing options, design optimization, and alternative technical concepts.
7. Lead interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure compatibility of project elements.
8. Conduct quality control reviews and oversee comment resolution and corrections.
9. Lead project meetings and interface with stakeholders.
10. Develop Transportation Management Plans.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of transportation experience, with at least 5+ years in MOT.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
• Certified Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is a plus.
• Experience with design-build projects.
• Knowledge of MUTCD, Roadside Design Guide, and traffic control design.
• Experience in developing Maintenance of Traffic Plans and Transportation Management Plans.
• Proficiency in MicroStation, Inroads, ORD, SignCAD, AutoCAD, and Civil3D.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• High Emotional Intelligence.
