Pylon is seeking an entrepreneurial Mortgage Underwriter to join our Platform team. You will underwrite loans end to end and serve as the expert human judgment behind our automated decisioning engine, enabling efficient, compliant loan origination.

You will work directly with customers on complex files, provide feedback to product and engineering, and help the platform handle more underwriting automatically over time in a highly regulated, fast-paced fintech environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of underwriting experience across diverse loan types, including Conventional, Jumbo, Non-QM, and Government, with fintech familiarity preferred.

Responsabilités

• Underwrite residential mortgage files across Conventional, Jumbo, Non-QM, and Government products, reviewing credit, income, assets, and collateral against guidelines.
• Issue clear, accurate conditions and clear them promptly to reduce reconditioning and unnecessary submission turns.
• Conduct 2nd level reviews, handle exceptions, and manage escalations to ensure quality control.
• Regularly assess and enhance our Underwriting Systems to ensure smooth file flow, high quality, regulatory compliance and efficiency.
• Act as a subject matter expert, aiding decision-making and driving product improvement.
• Work closely with internal teams, partners, and engineering to drive product improvements and optimize the fulfillment infrastructure.
• Maintain a comprehensive understanding of mortgage origination and regulations to ensure compliance.
