Job description

Job Title: Senior Mortgage Loan Officer

The Senior Mortgage Loan Officer is responsible for originating residential mortgage loans, pre-qualifying customers' creditworthiness and repayment ability, and servicing these loans to meet or exceed the Bank's credit quality, profitability, growth, and service objectives. The role involves referring customers to the appropriate banker for cross-selling products and services.

  1. Relationship Management: Create, develop, and maintain relationships with referral and industry sources to maximize mortgage loan volume and income, and meet banking center profitability goals.
  2. Loan Processing: Interface with borrowers to complete and document loan applications, analyze financial conditions, evaluate collateral acceptability, and determine repayment capacity.
  3. Customer Communication: Set expectations regarding loan approval processes and terms, and maintain communication with borrowers throughout the loan process, approval, and closing stages.
  4. Customer Service and Referrals: Respond to inquiries, generate contacts from various channels, and identify opportunities for cross-selling other bank services.
  5. Advisory: Explain mortgage options, differentiate between types of mortgages, and negotiate loan terms and conditions.
  6. Market and Regulatory Awareness: Stay informed about local real estate market conditions and regulatory changes related to private and government-insured mortgages.
  7. Compliance: Position subject to SAFE Act registration requirements.
Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in residential construction and permanent lending, with compliance training and knowledge of real estate laws and FNMA guidelines.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, reliable transportation for outside sales calls.
  • Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing and Registry (NMLS) is required.
Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; basic math skills; ability to follow written instructions.
