Job summary

Utah Department of Health and Human Services (Office of the Medical Examiner) is seeking a Mortality Epidemiologist to lead mortality surveillance and injury research in Utah, designing studies and applying advanced analytics to public health data.

The role requires expertise with reproducible software (R, Stata, Python) and qualitative tools, with collaboration across agencies and the public health system; hybrid work arrangement is available and a strong emphasis on informing statewide

Qualifications

Master's degree in public health, statistics, social work, public policy, or a related field.
Knowledge of basic informatics.
Proficiency in analyzing data using reproducible software (R/Stata/Python) and qualitative software (NVivo).

Responsibilities

Analyze, summarize, and review complex mortality data; report findings and recommendations.
Organize and conduct surveillance and research.
Collect data, manage databases, and review materials for validity.
Lead or supervise staff and coordinate projects.
Write grants, contracts, or agreements.
Communicate findings to stakeholders and the public.
