Job summary
Merck seeks a Molecular Pathology Laboratory Lead to steer strategic direction and operations of the Molecular Pathology laboratory. You will lead scientists developing, validating, transferring, and deploying tissue-based biomarker assays for our clinical development pipeline.
You will bring expertise in histology and tissue-based technologies (IHC, ISH, multiplex, digital pathology) and partner across teams to deliver decision-enabling biomarker data for clinical programs.
Qualifications
- 12+ years with a Master’s degree or 10+ years with a Ph.D./M.D., incl. 3+ years of people management.
- Lead laboratory operations, balance priorities, allocate resources, deliver results on time.
- Fit-for-purpose bioanalytical development and clinical lab quality systems (GxP, CAP, CLIA).
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for development and deployment of tissue-based biomarker assays.
- Establish robust assay strategies aligned with biomarker questions and development stage.
- Advise on tissue acquisition, handling, and validation design for programs.
- Oversee external tissue assay vendors and partner laboratories for quality and delivery.
