Job Title: Senior Mobile Application Developer

Location: Remote or NYC-based
Type: Full-Time

Company Mission
Developing a cutting-edge, data-driven mobile platform that integrates GLP-1 medication management, personalized nutrition, exercise, and AI-powered health coaching to address obesity and chronic disease treatment.

Key Responsibilities
This role requires a versatile developer who will essentially own the entire technical ecosystem, including:

  • Architect and maintain the cross-platform React Native application (iOS & Android)
  • Own the entire codebase including admin dashboard and APIs
  • Ensure HIPAA compliance across all features
  • Integrate health data APIs (Apple HealthKit, Google Fit, InBody, wearable devices)

Feature Development

  • Build gamification features (streaks, XP, badges, progress visualization)
  • Develop habit tracking and smart health coaching modules
  • Implement GLP-1 medication management features
  • Create real-time messaging and voice/text coaching capabilities

Design & UX

  • Create and iterate design solutions in Figma (wireframes, prototypes, visual assets)
  • Translate clinical and wellness goals into intuitive app features
  • Balance user experience with clinical effectiveness

Strategic Impact

  • Solve low utilization rates through intelligent automation
  • Build scalable solutions for corporate client onboarding
  • Create meaningful health metrics for employer reporting
  • Support competitive differentiation through data-driven features

Current Tech Stack Context
Based on the handoff documents, the existing infrastructure includes:

  • Frontend: React Native (cross-platform)
  • Backend: Node.js + TypeScript (monolithic)
  • Database: AWS RDS MySQL
  • Infrastructure: AWS (ECR, ECS, ALB, S3, CloudFront, Route53)
  • Authentication: AWS Cognito
  • CI/CD: AWS CodePipeline
  • Monitoring: CloudWatch

Admin Dashboard/AI Features

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS (Vercel)
  • Backend: Flask API (Python) on AWS Lambda
  • Database: PostgreSQL
  • AI Integration: OpenAI (with BAA), ElevenLabs (with BAA)

Required Tech Stack Expertise

  • React Native (iOS/Swift & Android/Kotlin)

Qualifications
Required:

  • 7-10+ years of mobile app development experience
  • Experience shipping consumer-facing wellness, health, or fitness apps

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced startup environments

Strong Plus:

  • Real-time chat, audio/voice interfaces experience
  • Health integrations experience
  • Healthcare data, HIPAA compliance, or digital therapeutics background

Key Challenges & Opportunities

  1. Integration Complexity: Merging two existing tech stacks (ILABS Node.js/MySQL and Morningside Flask/PostgreSQL)
  2. Full Ownership: This is essentially a solo or lead architect role with complete codebase responsibility
