Job summary

Amazon Science in Seattle is seeking a scientist to build the ML capabilities powering AWS Startup Advisor, delivering proactive recommendations to founders.

You will own science problems end-to-end—from data foundations to model design, evaluation, and production deployment serving hundreds of thousands of startups. The role combines hands-on modeling with cross-team collaboration and opportunities to publish.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of building ML models for business applications
• PhD or Master’s + 6+ years applied research
• Proficient in Java, C++, Python
• Experience with neural deep learning methods

Responsibilities

• Own science problems end-to-end: data strategy, model development, evaluation and production deployment.
• Apply generative AI and large language models to personalize technical guidance for founders.
• Design and run experiments balancing accuracy, latency and cost for rapid yet reliable iteration.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, design and GTM teams to translate science into scalable products.
• Mentor other scientists and engineers and contribute to the broader scientific community through publications or peer reviews.
