Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Machine Learning Scientist II to own complex ML projects across ranking, search, and recommendations. You will build end-to-end model pipelines and collaborate with product managers, engineers, and analysts to drive data-driven decisions.

You will design scalable data pipelines, ensure model reliability, and monitor performance while applying AI/ML concepts with attention to safety and reliability in production systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Experience applying ML or statistical modeling to real business problems, including end-to-end development from data exploration through deployment.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks and libraries for model development, training, and evaluation.
• Ability to translate problem statements into well-defined ML tasks, design model/data structures, and own solutions within a product/feature area.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end model pipelines to production across product domains (ranking, recommendations, search, personalization).
• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, data quality checks, and model monitoring for production ML systems.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, and engineering to translate business needs into ML projects and communicate findings.
• Use A/B tests and offline/online evaluation frameworks to measure model impact and guide iterative improvement.
