Job summary

Expedia Group’s Whole Trip AI team seeks a Senior Manager of Machine Learning Science in Seattle to lead a team delivering production-grade ranking and recommendation models. You will partner with Cars, Activities, and Packages to surface relevant offers and drive business impact across high-traffic models.

You will shape the ML roadmap, enforce rigorous experimentation, and collaborate with engineering to ensure scalable, observable systems, while mentoring scientists and advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Level.
• Technical Degree Preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant professional experience and 3+ years of people management experience.
• Strong expertise in modern ML methods in ranking and recommendation with solid programming skills and collaboration experience with engineering teams on system, API, and data design.
• Substantial experience leading end-to-end ML initiatives, including problem definition, data preparation, feature engineering, model development, offline evaluation, experimentation, and productionization.

Responsibilities

• Enable a team to develop industry-leading ranking & recommendation models for the travel industry.
• Lead and grow a team of ML scientists to deliver production-grade ML solutions.
• Define and drive the end-to-end ML roadmap from problem formulation to productionization.
• Set and enforce best practices for experimental design, A/B testing, and causal inference.
• Partner with data and software engineering teams to ensure scalable, observable ML models in production.
• Mentor ML scientists through technical guidance and career development.
• Apply AI-driven systems concepts to real-world products safely and effectively.
