Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Expert to teach AI how to think, specializing in step-by-step reasoning traces for large language models. You will craft high-fidelity problem-solving sequences and mentor trace quality, all in a flexible, remote setup.

You will design data strategies and leverage your ML architecture knowledge to produce training data that improves model performance, while working asynchronously on your own schedule.

Qualifications

• Experienced ML professional with a strong background in model reasoning, training methodologies, or related fields.
• Capable of decomposing multi-step problems into clear, logical sequences.
• Familiar with how large language models work, including evaluation, fine-tuning, and training pipelines.
• Strong written communicator who can explain technical reasoning clearly.

Responsibilities

• Author complex reasoning traces documenting how an LLM should plan and execute tasks.
• Design traces capturing tool use, decision-making logic, and multi-step problem solving.
• Review and mentor tracing quality for clarity and rigor.
• Develop data strategies to improve model reliability in real-world scenarios.
• Apply ML system architecture knowledge to training data that boosts performance.
• Work independently and asynchronously on your schedule.
