Job summary

Gusto in the United States is seeking a Machine Learning Platform Engineer to join the ML Platform team and scale our ML/AI infrastructure, delivering reliable and scalable solutions for model deployment and observability.

You will collaborate with AI/ML engineers and product teams, bring a strong software engineering background (Python, Ruby or Java), and design ML lifecycle infrastructure with data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Experience designing infrastructure for ML lifecycle (feature stores, model development, deployment, observability).
• Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS preferred).
• Curiosity and experimentation with emerging AI frameworks; ability to scale AI use safely across teams.

Responsibilities

• Build ML/AI Platform components and MLOps pipelines.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance frameworks for ML model development and deployment.
• Define business requirements and SLAs for API-enabled services.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure for ML services.
• Support deployment of ML models with CI/CD pipelines and automated tests.
• Apply AI tools in engineering workflows and promote AI-native practices.
• Adopt best practices for AI technologies across development.
