Axon seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer II focused on Sensor Fusion & Tracking. You will research, design, and validate advanced estimation and probabilistic models powering real-time airspace awareness systems.

The role emphasizes translating theory into deployed, scalable solutions that support safety missions worldwide. The position requires 8+ years of ML experience, strong Python and ML framework skills (PyTorch/TensorFlow), and a proven track record in production environments.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience deploying ML systems in real-world applications.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience deploying ML systems in production (cloud/edge/embedded).
• Solid understanding of statistics, model evaluation, and performance trade-offs.
• MLOps practices including CI/CD, model versioning, monitoring, and retraining.
• Experience with large, noisy, or multi-modal datasets.
• Clear communication and collaborative mindset aligned with Axon's values.

Responsibilities

• Research and develop advanced multi-sensor fusion and multi-target tracking.
• Design probabilistic models and state estimation for radar, RF, optical sensing.
• Develop and evaluate algorithms such as Kalman filters, particle filters, Bayesian filters, data association, and tracking.
• Conduct simulation studies and benchmark performance across conditions.
• Analyze real-world datasets to validate model assumptions and quantify uncertainty.
• Partner with software engineers to deploy production-ready systems.
• Publish internal technical docs and contribute to IP.
• Stay current with tracking, estimation theory, and ML research.
