Apple Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Staff/Senior Machine Learning Engineer for the Search & Knowledge Platforms team.

You will design and ship ML systems for high-quality search, ranking, and direct answers across Siri, Safari, and iMessage, working across data science, software engineering, and prompt engineering. The role requires 6+ years shipping search and ML systems, strong Python/Go skills, experience with data pipelines, A/B testing, and retrieval or RAG architectures.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of shipping Search and ML systems.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, or similar languages.
• Experience building scalable data pipelines and backend systems.
• Proficiency in data science methodologies and evaluation metrics for ML systems.
• Experience with prompt engineering.
• Strong product sense and ability to translate requirements into tasks.
• Excellent communication skills with data-driven storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve quality and performance of the search and ranking stack.
• Understand requirements and design engineering solutions reflecting product vision.
• Develop reliable, scalable ways to measure and compare impact of solutions.
