Job summary

Roku is seeking a Data Scientist/Research Engineer to build recommendation models for video recommendations and to create APIs serving these models online. You will research and leverage LLMs for recommendations and develop computer vision techniques for image classification and video understanding.

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 1+ year of experience in data science/Research roles.
• Strong programming skills in Python and OOP.
• Experience with ML frameworks and algorithms across ML/AI domains.
• Proficiency with SQL and data engineering concepts.
• Solid software engineering practices including version control and testing.

Responsibilities

• Build recommendation models for video recommendations and serve them via APIs.
• Research and leverage LLMs for recommendations and CV models for video understanding.
• Experiment with semi-automatic annotation for NLU datasets and re-train models.
• Evaluate model performance on annotated data and improve data pipelines.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to launch research ideas into Roku releases.
• Document work with internal wikis, design documents, and demos.
