Job summary

Roku seeks an experienced machine learning engineer to advance the Entertainment Assistant, leveraging ML/AI for NLU and production-scale systems. You will design algorithms, build cloud components, and take projects from proof-of-concept to production, collaborating across teams.

You should have 5+ years of ML/AI in NLP, strong data/system skills, and a solid programming foundation in Java/Python/C++. California salary is provided with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years applying ML/AI to NLP or related domains.
• Experience with big data systems and listed programming languages.
• Strong fundamentals in regression, classification, ranking, neural nets and sequence models for text/speech.
• Hands-on production systems experience.
• Experience deploying ML models and defining KPIs.
• Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software and algorithms for Roku's entertainment assistant.
• Build components for high-availability cloud solutions.
• Translate proof-of-concept work to production systems.
• Demonstrate strong programming across large-scale systems.
• Apply algorithmic thinking to solve complex problems.
• Collaborate across teams and leverage internal expertise.
• Propose and compare multiple solutions before choosing final ones.
• Own initiatives and make pragmatic technical decisions.
