ClickUp is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to own ranking and retrieval systems powering search across the platform. You will deploy models, tune features, and scale retrieval across billions of documents in a multi-tenant environment.

You will collaborate with Search Infrastructure, AI, and backend teams to improve query understanding, implement lexical + vector retrieval (HNSW), and ensure permissions-aware access.

Formación

• 5+ years of ML engineering focusing on ranking, retrieval, or information retrieval.
• Experience with end-to-end ML lifecycle: training, deployment, serving.
• Hands-on ranker model training: features, pipelines, offline evaluation.
• Experience building hybrid (lexical + vector) retrieval systems (e.g., HNSW).
• Strong query understanding: intent modeling and query expansion.
• Permissions-aware retrieval for multi-tenant data is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Train, deploy, and serve ranking models in production, owning the full ML lifecycle.
• Build ranker features, training pipelines, and offline evaluation frameworks.
• Design and scale hybrid retrieval combining lexical and vector search (including HNSW).
• Run embedding inference at billions of documents scale.
• Improve query understanding through intent modeling and query expansion.
• Collaborate with Search Infrastructure, AI, and backend teams to integrate ranking improvements.
