Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for Perception within the Embodied AI organization to own the end-to-end pipeline for safety-critical perception models. You will coordinate data curation, model training, evaluation, and real-time deployment on the vehicle compute platform to enable reliable scene understanding.

Qualifications

• BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of professional experience with a focus on Computer Vision, Deep Learning, and Perception in a production environment.
• Hands-on experience with modern deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or TensorFlow) for training, experimentation, and debugging complex DNNs.
• Experience fusing data from Camera, LiDAR, and Radar modalities.
• Experience deploying ML models to resource-constrained, real-time embedded systems.
• Ability to lead major feature development from concept to launch and mentor junior engineers.
• Publications in CVPR/ECCV/ICCV/NeurIPS or related venues is a plus.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Model Lifecycle: design, training, validation, and deployment of deep learning models for core perception tasks.
• Production Pipeline: build and scale ML training infrastructure and data loading.
• Performance Optimization: improve models for real-time, low-latency embedded hardware.
• Model Debugging: analyze data-driven failures and regressions in adverse conditions.
• Metric Definition: define robust model-level metrics for development.
• System Integration: collaborate with Safety and Systems engineering to integrate outputs.
