Job summary

Canopy's AI Squad seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to shape our AI roadmap, mentor engineers, and drive production ML for security applications.

You will design, develop, and deploy ML models for perception systems (Radar/Camera/LiDAR), manage data pipelines, and collaborate with product and MLOps teams. This is a hybrid Detroit-area role focused on edge deployment and cloud integration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of ML for perception systems using Radar, camera or LiDAR.
• Proficient in Python with one DL framework (PyTorch or TensorFlow).
• Able to develop production-grade ML apps for training, evaluation and inference on large datasets.
• Experience porting ML inference to edge devices/embedded systems in C/C++.
• Strong understanding of classical ML (SVM, HMM, Decision Trees) and modern neural nets (CNNs, Transformers).
• Experience with dynamic object tracking and sensor fusion preferred.
• Unix-based proficiency (Linux/macOS) and working with remote servers.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to design, development, and deployment of ML models for production security applications.
• Cover full ML lifecycle from problem definition to data pipelines, model development, validation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Establish best practices in ML system architecture, CI/CD for ML, and reproducible research methodologies.
• Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, and MLOps teams for smooth model integration.
• Perform exploratory data analysis on large-scale sensory datasets to guide modeling strategies.
• Stay ahead of ML, AI sensing, and signal processing advancements and apply them.”
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in hiring and technical reviews.
