Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to lead the Defect Engineering Systems group. You will drive ML model strategy, architect scalable vision models, and ensure real-time defect detection in a 24/7 manufacturing environment.

As a senior team member, you will mentor junior engineers, establish best practices for deployment, validation, and maintenance, and collaborate with module owners to translate physical defect characteristics into robust mathematical

Qualifications

• Education: BS or MS in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics or related STEM/Engineering degree.
• Experience: 5+ years relevant experience in ML/defect detection.
• Semiconductor industry experience preferred.
• Strong ML framework expertise and production deployment track record.
• Linux/Ubuntu proficiency and hardware-aware optimization.

Responsibilities

• Architect Advanced ML Solutions: Lead design and implementation of ML models for defect detection and classification with max accuracy and throughput.
• Drive Domain Alignment: Translate defect characteristics into modeling proposals and robust classification frameworks.
• Innovate via Research: Identify AI research and adapt architectures for production in semiconductor manufacturing.
• Optimize the ML Pipeline: Feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and modern vision architectures.
• Ensure Operational Scalability: Maintain models for 24/7 production environments with reliable integration.
• Mentor & Lead: Provide technical mentorship and establish code quality standards.
