Job summary

Checkr, Inc. is seeking an experienced ML Engineer (P3) in San Francisco to own end‑to‑end ML services powering Checkr’s core products.

You will design, implement, deploy, and monitor production ML systems using LLMs and APIs, collaborating closely with Product Engineering, Product, and cross‑functional teams. You will ship AI‑powered workflows, evaluate model and system performance, and contribute to Checkr’s AI strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in CS, Math, or related technical field, or equivalent experience
• 6+ years of software development with at least 2 years building ML systems in production
• Strong Python skills; production ML with LLM APIs, cost, latency, evaluation
• Experience building and maintaining APIs; CI/CD pipelines
• Comfort with AI-assisted workflows; experience with LLMs or agentic systems in production
• Ability to spot AI slop and avoid shipping it; strong ownership and bias for action

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy ML/AI services for Product Engineering teams
• Design with LLMs and APIs; manage cost, latency, and quality
• Ship production software with clean code, tests, and CI/CD
• Collaborate with product and engineering to translate problems into ML solutions
• Develop evaluation frameworks and run experiments for data-driven decisions
• Build AI-powered workflows and agentic pipelines on Checkr's platform
