Planet is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead ML-focused engineering teams delivering production-ready software for Defense and Intelligence clients. You will guide, mentor, and unblock engineers, shaping processes and ensuring timely delivery of improvements in a distributed, hybrid setup.

The role requires 6+ years of experience, including 4+ in leadership, a strong ML and software background, and the ability to operate across research and production pipelines.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of relevant work experience with 4+ years in leadership.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience delivering data-intensive software products at scale.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering, statistics and ML.

Responsibilities

• Guide your team of ML engineers to deliver successful ML products.
• Mentor and unblock team members to help them grow.
• Ensure efficient shipping of product improvements and features.
• Define and implement team processes, e.g., planning, code reviews, on-call rotations.
