Job summary

Databricks Inc. is seeking a Staff Backline Engineer to serve as a technical escalation point for complex ML/AI issues. You will troubleshoot, reproduce, and drive resolutions across Support, Engineering, Product, and customers.

You will work with Python/Spark workloads, MLflow, Model Serving, and distributed systems while mentoring others and influencing product improvements. This role emphasizes automation and cross-functional impact.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to troubleshoot complex ML/AI systems across code, frameworks, and infrastructure.
• Strong Python skills with experience in ML workloads (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn).
• Hands-on knowledge of MLflow, Spark MLlib, Model Serving and feature engineering.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex ML/AI issues across teams.
• Investigate root causes using logs, traces, metrics, and code analyses.
• Reproduce issues via hands-on experiments, Python/Spark development, and workload construction.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Product to drive resolutions and product improvements.
• Mentor engineers and raise troubleshooting capabilities across the organization.
