Job summary

Sunstone Environmental Solutions, LLC is seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant to provide strategic leadership on mining-focused environmental projects in the Western U.S. You’ll act as senior technical authority, shaping strategies and guiding complex permitting and compliance efforts.

You will mentor junior staff, manage cross-functional teams, and build client relationships with federal, state, and local agencies, especially in Nevada and nearby jurisdictions, while delivering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
• 15+ years in environmental consulting, mining, or related industries with leadership experience.
• Regulatory frameworks expertise (NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act); Nevada mining experience preferred.
• Proven track record leading senior teams, subcontractors, and multi-project portfolios.
• Willingness to relocate to the Greater Reno, NV area.

Responsibilities

• Oversee large-scale permitting, compliance, and environmental planning projects.
• Lead and mentor a team of up to 10 consultants and staff; provide technical guidance.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, mining clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Develop advanced compliance documents (EISs, SWPPPs, PoOs, air quality plans).
• Engage with federal/state/local agencies at a senior level and drive business development.
• Provide site oversight via periodic visits, risk assessments, and advisory support.
