Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Senior Mining Engineer – Geology and Exploration in Mexico City. You will lead geological modeling, resource estimation, and exploration strategy development to identify new mineral deposits and support mine planning with data-driven decisions.

Hybrid work arrangement, extensive fieldwork, and collaboration with regional teams are expected. Fluency in Spanish and English, plus 8+ years in mineral exploration, are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related earth science field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mineral exploration and resource estimation.
• Proven expertise in geological modeling software and data analysis techniques.
• Strong understanding of various deposit types and geological settings relevant to Mexico.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English.
• Ability to conduct fieldwork in remote locations as required.
• Experience working with a hybrid office model.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage geological models and resource estimation reports using Leapfrog, Vulcan, and Surpac.
• Design and implement exploration programs, including drilling campaigns and geophysical surveys.
• Analyze geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to identify and characterize mineral prospects.
• Conduct geological field work, including mapping, sampling, and core logging.
• Collaborate with mine planning and operations teams to integrate resource estimates into mine plans.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders.
• Stay abreast of advancements in mining geology and exploration technologies.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
