Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mine Surveyor for a hybrid role based in Paarl, Western Cape. You will conduct high-precision surveys, establish control networks, and prepare detailed reports to support mining planning and operations.

You will work with GPS, total stations, and laser scanning equipment, collaborating with planners, engineers, and geologists to ensure spatial accuracy and regulatory compliance. Significant field and data processing tasks await in a dynamic mining environment.

Qualifications

• A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in mine surveying, with emphasis on mining.
• Proficiency with advanced surveying instruments (e.g., total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners).
• Expertise in surveying software packages (AutoCAD Civil 3D, Deswik CAD, Surpac).
• Strong understanding of mine geometry, excavation methods, and surveying principles relevant to mining.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and processing.
• Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or equivalent registration is desirable.
• Hybrid Paarl-based role with field and office tasks.

Responsabilités

• Conduct high-precision surveys for open-pit and underground mine workings, including topographic surveys, cross-sections, and volume calculations.
• Establish and maintain mine control networks using GPS, total stations, and laser scanning technology.
• Prepare detailed survey plans, maps, and reports for mine planning, operations, and geological teams.
• Monitor and record mine progress, including excavation volumes, stockpile inventories, and infrastructure placement.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all survey data and records.
• Collaborate with mine planners, engineers, and geologists to provide essential spatial information.
• Conduct regular equipment checks and calibrations to maintain survey instrument accuracy.
• Stay up-to-date with advancements in surveying technology and methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant surveying standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
• Mentor and guide junior survey staff.
