Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking a Mine Permitting & Compliance professional to support permitting, compliance evaluations, reclamation, closure, and environmental management for mining projects across the western United States and internationally. You will collaborate with mine operators, project engineers, scientists, regulators, and project managers on active mines, expansions, and closures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, natural resources, or related discipline.
• Generally 8–12 years of relevant mining/environmental permitting experience; 12+ years preferred.
• Experience reviewing permits, monitoring data, compliance records, and environmental management plans.
• Strong technical writing, problem-solving, time-management, and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Teams, and comparable project tools.

Responsibilities

• Review and update client permit applications, permit summaries, compliance plans, and supporting documentation.
• Evaluate environmental permitting obligations related to surface water, groundwater, air, waste, reclamation, closure, and discharge requirements.
• Support environmental compliance audits, including permit, regulatory, monitoring, and compliance-document reviews.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, scientists, clients, and regulatory agencies.
• Assist with proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, and client relationship development as appropriate.
