Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Mine Hoisting and Shaft Specialist Design Engineer to lead hoisting and shaft design on large-scale projects globally. You’ll drive technical excellence, sign off on construction-ready designs, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with internal teams and clients.

Ideal candidates hold a PE license in the USA, have 10–15 years of shaft/hoist experience, and can manage multiple projects from concept through completion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in the USA or ability to be licensed within 6 months.
• 10–15 years of experience, with at least 5 years of shaft and hoist construction or maintenance experience.
• Proven experience leading engineering design work.
• Strong knowledge of hoisting systems, shafts, headframes, standards and design tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead shaft and hoisting system designs on projects, sometimes multiple smaller projects.
• Define project scope, budget, and design approaches.
• Deliver quality work within scope, budget, and schedule.
• Coordinate with internal teams, clients, contractors, and vendors.
• Provide Professional Engineering sign-off on designs for construction.
• Mentor junior staff and guide other design disciplines.
