Job summary

City of Buffalo seeks a skilled Millwright Helper to support the installation, alignment, and maintenance of heavy machinery in a large plant. The role requires a background through an apprenticeship or equivalent journeyman experience and a valid NYS driver's license.

You will work under supervision, perform routine repairs, and ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. The position offers opportunities for advancement within the department and requires adherence to established methods

Qualifications

• Completion of an Apprenticeship Program for Millwright (4 years) or five years of verifiable experience as a Millwright.
• Ability to lay out and install machinery using plans and drawings.
• Knowledge of safety practices and use of common trade tools.

Responsibilities

• Installs machinery and equipment according to layout plans and drawings.
• Operates hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks to move heavy machinery.
• Repairs and aligns drive and control shafts; replaces motors, belts, valves, and pumps.
• Maintains and repairs hoppers, gates, and other components; fabricates parts as needed.
